Yes. PayPal handles the payouts: per-task earnings clear 3 days after you submit, hourly earnings clear 7 days after you log time, and you can withdraw once every 3 days. The FAQ says deposits show up within a few days of a request.
How much does DataAnnotation pay?
The FAQ's starting rates: $25–50+ an hour for general work, $20+ for multilingual projects, $40–150+ for coding, and $40–125+ for STEM and professional work such as law and medicine. Strong performance can push your rate higher.
How hard is it to get accepted on DataAnnotation?
The Starter Assessment takes about an hour, and you get one shot at it. DataAnnotation emails approved applicants within a few days, says it cannot reply to everyone, and publishes no acceptance rate.
Who owns DataAnnotation?

Has DataAnnotation been sued?
Yes. A proposed class action, Cavalier v. Surge Labs, was filed in San Francisco Superior Court in May 2025, alleging the company misclassified workers as contractors. As of October 2026, we have found neither a ruling nor a settlement.
