About this job
Join a leading AI lab's cutting-edge GenAI team to be at the core of the AI revolution, where your expertise fuels the development of the most advanced Large Language Models.
1\. Overview
Join a leading AI lab's cutting-edge GenAI team and help build foundational AI models from the ground up. We're seeking talented Electrical Engineers with deep, hands-on industry experience in circuit design, power systems, or embedded hardware to bring real engineering judgment and elevate the quality of our AI training data. This is a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week for an initial engagement of 3 to 4 months, with a strong possibility of extension.
This is a W-2 employment position with Cincinnatus LLC, with the opportunity to be placed at a leading AI Lab as part of their extended workforce.
Location: Remote within the United States; San Francisco Bay Area-based candidates strongly preferred.
2\. Key Responsibilities
• Guide research and engineering teams to close knowledge gaps and improve AI model performance in electrical engineering, including circuit analysis and design, power systems and power electronics, and embedded and control systems.
• Design challenging, domain-relevant tasks, and write accurate and well-structured reference solutions to electrical engineering problems.
• Evaluate electrical engineering tasks and model outputs and provide clear, written technical feedback, catching incorrect assumptions, unit and sign errors, violated design constraints, and unsafe design choices.
• Develop guidelines and detailed rubrics to assess the quality of reasoning across areas such as analog and mixed-signal design, RF, PCB and board-level design, power distribution, signal processing, and controls.
• Collaborate with other subject matter experts to ensure consistency and accuracy in training data.
3\. Core Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of hands-on professional electrical engineering experience in industry, for example in semiconductors, consumer electronics, power and utilities, aerospace and defense, automotive and EV, robotics, telecommunications, or medical devices.
• Genuine ownership of real engineering work, for example designing and bringing up circuits or boards, running circuit simulations, specifying power systems, or taking hardware through design reviews, validation, and production.
• Working fluency with common tools (for example SPICE/LTspice, Cadence, Altium, KiCad, MATLAB/Simulink, or ETAP) and familiarity with relevant codes and standards (for example IEEE, NEC, IPC, or UL).
• Demonstrable career progression toward senior or lead engineering responsibility. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus but not required.
• Hands-on working use of large language models in professional work, and the judgment to tell a well-reasoned answer from a plausible-sounding wrong one.
• Ability to engage reliably for at least 40 hours/week during weekdays.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly.
